The beginning of something new is a time of heightened expectation, nervousness, exhilaration and a realization that what we are about to do we hope to do for a long time. The arrival of a new child is one of the most anticipated moments of our life. It is also true that as we look forward to their arrival we immediately start preparing them for their departure. So, creating an atmosphere that not only encourages growth but also one that expects change is not just a training time for the child. We must also begin to train ourselves on how to be positive and productive partners with the adults God has given to us to develop. The departure of a child is something that is not planned out nearly as well as the arrival. Always remember that God will honor our plans, so let’s plan departure as well as we plan the arrival.
