The local church assembly is the place where believers can freely learn the Word of God in fellowship with other believers. At a local church assembly, you hear the Word of God from a pastor, ministers, or fellow teachers who have been gifted to teach the Word of God. This happens during Sunday worship service, Christian Enrichment/Sunday School, Bible Study, and any other church functions. Believers grow in their faith and knowledge of God’s Word through the teaching, fellowship, and personal study of God’s Word.
Joining a local church assembly also gives us the opportunity to use our God given spiritual gifts to further enhance the Gospel of Christ. Once we become a member of the body of Christ, we receive a gift that we should use for God’s glory. The Bible says in Romans 12:3-8 “For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith. For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness”. Using our God given gifts and abilities draws other believers closer to God and helps convert unbelievers to believers. Our gifts are to be used willingly to please God and for His glory.
